Disciples of Christ
In Matthew 28 we find a similar scene as Jesus gives his final instructions to the disciples after his resurrection and encourages them to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. The Great Commission
In our recent exploration of the Shema in Deuteronomy we heard a portion of the final instructions Moses gave to the people of Israel before they crossed the Jordan River and began their new lives without his leadership. Although his guidelines are lengthy, the most important statements are contained in two verses:
Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
